Topicamide is one of the muscarinic antagonist with pharmacologic action. It is used mainly as an parasympatholytic or mydriatic. Tropicamide and phenyleprine is used to dilate the pupil and relax the lens during the eye examination. These muscarinic receptors control the pupil size and the shape of the lens. It paralyse the ciliary muscle. By blocking these receptors, tropicamide produces dilatation of the pupil (mydriasis) and prevents the eye from accommodating for near vision.
