Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose Eye Drops - Indication

Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose known as artificial tears.
It is used to relieve dryness and irritation caused by reduced tear flow.
It helps prevent damage to the eye in certain eye diseases.
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose may also be used to moisten hard contact lenses and artificial eyes.

Dosage

One to two drops as needed.

Mechanism of Action

Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is a nonpyrogenic viscoelastic solution that occupies space and protects tissue. When used in anterior segment surgeries, it allows for more efficient manipulation with less trauma to the ocular tissues, such as the corneal endothelium, by maintaining a deep chamber.
